Sustainable withdrawal - finiki

A brief new finiki article on sustainable withdrawal has been started.
Sustainable withdrawal - finiki

It is not yet in the main menu.

Suggestions for expansion are welcome.

As I'm still accumulating and figure we're at least ten years away from withdrawal phase, I currently only have passing interest in the subject. I do however appreciate learning from those who have reached this stage and are sharing their knowledge. To me this is the essence of both the forum and finiki.

The subject has also been the topic of a recent in-depth discussion on Bogleheads, see A Fresh Look at Safe Withdrawal Rates. Is any of the information from the discussion worthy of inclusion in the finiki article?

This site: http://www.retailinvestor.org/spreadsheets.html has what I think are some good calculators. I like "How Long Will My Pension Last" as it lets you calculate how to die broke or leave a legacy. Also there is a "Calculate Safe Withdrawal Rate" calculator (which I don't use). As you'll see there are other calculators there as well, including several relating to annuities.

A word of caution, there have been previous posts about this site you might want to consider, see viewtopic.php?p=377159#p377159 and viewtopic.php?p=399457#p399457.

I have added a link to the bogleheads forum thread. The spreadsheet is from Pfau and I have linked the original blog article.

Note that an editor or someone with administrative access should modify the main menu, which is protected.

OK, PI. Warning taken - and with your reminder I remember some of those discussions. I hope the "Die Broke" calculator is accurate, as that is my plan!

Use the spreadsheet at the Pfau blog directly.
