It's all cherry picking......I'm not assuming zero risk, I just like a little dividend showmanship.

BTW, I like Shoppers long term as well.

Darn! Michael, I was hoping to report that!

We've been very patient with GE, now let's hope this is the beginning of a great recovery.

It needs to re-boot on many fronts. Quoted that they need to find a strategic role for a smaller GE Finance unit; this would be a start. Selling NBC and rationalizing the debt would be nice. Still watching, not accumulating more. I'm sitting in quite a hole on this.

So am I. I bought it all the way down... But of all the companies I trimmed and pruned in the last three years for one reason or another, GE was one I have continued to believe in, and I have held. I am hopeful.

Bought some GE a year ago @$11.75...up 33.7% at the moment......so I guess that thing about "even a stopped clock is right twice a day" has some merit.

Outside North America, I had direct experience with British and South African stocks - AFAIK, they were all paying annual or semi-annual dividends.

Hi,

This might fall into the obscure dividend hike category. According to Morningstar, Healthcare REIT (HCN) in the US raised it's quarterly dividend 1 cent to .69. Not huge news, but after a two year dry spell in the US REIT slot, a very good sign.

I added to my position recently in part to replace dividend income from BP. 8)
Cheers

From Saputo,
The Board of Directors reviewed the dividend policy and increased the quarterly dividend from $0.145 per share to $0.16 per share, representing a 10.3% increase. The quarterly dividend will be payable on September 17, 2010 to common shareholders of record on September 6, 2010.

A welcome increase to our annual dividend income stream.

Not particularly relevant, but an interesting side note ...Calian was founded by the current mayor of Ottawa, Larry Obrien. He retired as Chairman and CEO of Calian, and then became mayor in 2006.

Northern Property REIT (NPR.UN)

Reflecting better-than-expected results and a more positive tone and outlook, the REIT's (notably conservative) board and management announced a 3.4% increase to distributions ($0.05 per unit annualized) to $1.53/year effective with the August distribution payable September 15.
